Dating back to the late 1500s, early 1600s, and built upon land that was used as a sacred site dating back to the 1300s, San Miguel Chapel is the oldest recorded sanctified church in the United States. It is the only church in New Mexico that still holds a Latin Mass and Mass in English, and offers popular annual events. This amazing chapel is one of the least known, yet most significant historic treasures in the U.S.

Located on historic Canyon Road, El Zaguán is a must-stop for visitors in search of the authentic Santa Fe. In 1854, James L. Johnson bucked the standard practice among his fellow merchants of living near to the plaza and purchased a parcel of land along Canyon Road. The building, known as El Zaguán, lives on and carries a fascinating history. Visitors are welcome to relax in its beautiful gardens, view art exhibits, hold private events, attend guest lectures, and learn about the cast of characters that has contributed to the unique culture and history of Santa Fe.

There are 19 Pueblos around Northern New Mexico and each observe sacred ceremonial Feast Days and Religious Events. The Native people generously allow respectful outsiders to attend some of these events throughout the year. Please be sure to observe all Pueblo Rules of Etiquette when visiting Native American villages. If you're not sure what the rules are, please inquire at the Tourism Offices for each Pueblo. Here are a few hiking trails and walks close to town. If you brought your best quadruped friend with you, you might want to let them off leash to do some exploring of their own at the Frank S. Ortiz park, a.k.a "The Dog Park." Of course, there are many beautiful on leash spots at our State Parks to let them sniff Santa Fe, while you take in the amazing vistas.
