EQUUS presents - The Cottonwood Dancers - Ceremonial Dances from the Tesuque Pueblo at Thunderbird Ridge.

For the Pueblo people of Northern New Mexico, Ceremonial dances are a key expression of their tradition and faith. The ‘social’ dances are offered to the public to share their good will and blessings. Local business EQUUS and The Cottonwood Dancers from Tesuque Pueblo have united to bring these special dances to private groups. Their Buffalo and Deer Dances honor the spirit of these sacred animals, the seasons and the land.

Dating back to the late 1500s, early 1600s, and built upon land that was used as a sacred site dating back to the 1300s, San Miguel Chapel is the oldest recorded sanctified church in the United States. It is the only church in New Mexico that still holds Mass, and offers popular annual events. This amazing chapel is one of the least known, yet most significant historic treasures in the U.S.

Located on historic Canyon Road, El Zaguán is a must-stop for visitors in search of the authentic Santa Fe. In 1854, James L. Johnson bucked the standard practice among his fellow merchants of living near to the plaza and purchased a parcel of land along Canyon Road. There are 19 Pueblos around Northern New Mexico and each observe sacred ceremonial Feast Days and Religious Events. The Native people generously allow respectful outsiders to attend some of these events throughout the year. Please be sure to observe all Pueblo Rules of Etiquette when visiting Native American villages. If you're not sure what the rules are, please inquire at the Tourism Offices for each Pueblo. Get ready for an Adventure of a Lifetime! Climb aboard and expect the unexpected as you travel the 18-mile historic rail between Santa Fe and Lamy NM. Entertainers, music, great food, and drink await you on Sky Railway.

Here are a few hiking trails and walks close to town. If you brought your best quadruped friend with you, you might want to let them off leash to do some exploring of their own at the Frank S. Ortiz park, a.k.a "The Dog Park." Of course, there are many beautiful on leash spots at our State Parks to let them sniff Santa Fe, while you take in the amazing vistas.
