Open. See hours. Dating back to the late 1500s, early 1600s, and built upon land that was used as a sacred site dating back to the 1300s, San Miguel Chapel is the oldest recorded sanctified church in the United States. It is the only church in New Mexico that still holds Mass, and offers popular annual events. This amazing chapel is one of the least known, yet most significant historic treasures in the U.S.

Donations For Chapel Preservation are very much needed and appreciated. Thank you!

San Miguel Chapel is steeped in history, and now in its 5th century, this wonderful structure of authentic adobe on stone attracts visitors from near and far year-round.

Visitors are invited to enjoy docent-led tours, and Sunday Mass when available.  Each year there are annual events to enjoy, such as music concerts, and the Summer Season Chamber Music Series held in the "Sweetest Listening Room in Santa Fe" in July and August, and The Annual San Miguel Fall Festival held during an entire weekend in late September.

The San Miguel Fall Festival includes special guest historian and archeologist lectures, demonstrations by colonial-era historians, Aztec dancers, and more. Please click link above for schedules for all events.

Since 1859 the chapel has been under the custodial care of the Christian Brothers of St. Michael’s College.

Today, San Miguel Chapel is a popular venue for many private events that do not involve a Mass or priest; including vow renewals, memorial services, marriage proposals, concerts, and lectures. (For such events, please use the contact form at the link above to submit your request and dates).

Thanks to the love and care of its custodians, the community, and enthralled visitors like you, this iconic landmark continues to be restored to its original beauty to endure through time.

Visitor donations are greatly appreciated to help in the ongoing preservation of the chapel. THANK YOU!
